How Are Lab Diamonds Made?
There are two advanced methods for creating lab-grown diamonds. Both simulate the Earth’s natural forces ; but in different ways:
HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature)
This older method uses intense heat and pressure ; like the conditions found deep inside the Earth. A diamond seed is placed in a chamber and exposed to temperatures over 1,500°C and extreme pressure. Carbon crystallizes around the seed, forming a diamond.
- Often used for enhancing color or growing small diamonds
- May require post-growth treatment to refine color
- Common in treated or industrial diamonds
CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition)
This is the only method LUCEN BLOOM uses. CVD is a newer, more advanced process that offers greater precision, consistency, and quality.
- A diamond seed is placed in a vacuum chamber filled with carbon-rich gas
- Microwave energy activates the gas, bonding carbon atoms to the seed
- The diamond grows slowly, layer by layer, with exceptional control

- Cut to Triple Excellent standards ; in cut, polish, and symmetry
- Certified by IGI (International Gemological Institute)
- Eye-clean clarity (D VVS2 or G VVS2 only)
- No fluorescence
- No internal graining
- And confirmed Hearts & Arrows symmetry where applicable
